Interpreters and Translators Service

West Yorkshire Police have a duty to ensure that interpreters are available to assist in communication when dealing with detainees in Custody and victims & witnesses making statements.

From 1st April 2019, CAPITA Translation and Interpreting (CAPITA TI) have been awarded the contract to provide all interpreting and translation requirements to West Yorkshire Police.  The service will cover both spoken and non-spoken languages (i.e. British Sign Language).  CAPITA TI will ensure that interpreters have the necessary qualifications, experience and vetting to carry out the assignment.
