Friday June 16, 2023 A Dewsbury man who committed a series of robberies has been given an extended jail sentence. Ibrar Ul-Haq (22) from Ravensthorpe was sentenced to six years with an extended three year licence period at Leeds Crown Court yesterday ( Thursday June 15), making for a nine year sentence. 
Monday November 20, 2023 Detectives investigating the murder of a woman in Dewsbury on Sunday night have now arrested a man.  The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team continues to investigate the incident which took place on Dearnley Street in Ravensthorpe.

Friday 16 February 2024The brother of murdered Leeds businessman John Luper has made an emotional plea for information on the 20-year anniversary of his death.Mr Luper was 57 years old when he was killed during a robbery at his home in Sandmoor Drive, Alwoodley, on February 16, 2004.
Friday, 15 March 2024 Police are appealing for information following an incident of violent disorder in Dewsbury.  At about 1.30am today (Friday), calls were received reporting an ongoing disturbance in North Park Street involving a number of people and vehicles.  
Tuesday 16 May 2023 A Wakefield man has been jailed for a total of 16 years after being found guilty of rape in a trial at Leeds Crown Court.  Steven Wood, 43 of Linton Road, Wakefield was sentenced yesterday (15/5) following the conviction of two offences of rape both receiving eight years, to run concurrently.
