A man has received a total sentence of 25 years after being found guilty of multiple rapes and assaults in Calderdale.

Tim Baker, aged 31, of Rosemary Close, Rastrick was found guilty of five rapes, three counts of coercive and controlling behaviour, two Section 20 assaults and four actual bodily harms at Bradford Crown Court on March 3.

He was sentenced today (Friday) at Bradford Crown Court.

His offending involved two victims over a period of nine years.

Baker, who was also served with a restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, was given 12 months after he had earlier pleaded guilty to driving offences. This was included in the 25-year term.

Detective Inspector Simon Archer, of the Calderdale District Safeguarding Unit said:

“Baker is a violent and controlling rapist who deserves to be in prison for a very long time.

“His victims have shown real bravery throughout the court process to see him rightfully brought to justice.

“I hope that the lengthy sentence helps to bring them some closure, so they can finally move forward with their lives.

“I would also like to recognise the dedication and tenacity of those involved in this investigation, which has once again highlighted their continued commitment to our communities.

“I hope that this case serves as a timely reminder that anyone who has been the victim of sexual abuse should feel confident in coming forward and reporting it.

“We have specialist teams who will take you seriously, deal with your case confidentially, and do everything within our power to bring those responsible to justice.”
