Ward Area - Keighley West - Reviewed 17/02/2024

Lead Area Sergeant: PS 2887 Twitchett

Lead Area Problem Solving Officer: PC 6266 Etherington

 

  • To address the ongoing calls for service from the Rainbow Centre caused resulting from anti-social behaviour caused by local youths. This will be achieved through partnership working targeted patrols of the area and positive enforcement. 

 

 Update: 

Increase in Public engagements dates planned for the West Ward to increase opportunities to provide greater reassurance to community and increase intelligence from the Public to be able to target Police Patrol and action in areas of concern to those who live in the area.

Continuing Speed Watch Deployments to combat ASB vehicle use and speeding – To work closely with partner agencies and community members. 

 

Ward Area - Craven - Reviewed 17/02/2024

  • Deal with on-going reports of begging outside the co-op and other retail premises in the Silsden area. Work with the community developing and taking action on reports and intelligence received.
  • To address the issues of parking opposite solid white lines on Keighley Road by working in conjunction with our wardens and parking services.
  • To tackle speeding and anti-social vehicle use, in particular those vehicles/individuals suspected to be bringing drugs into the area. We will do this by increasing proactive NPT patrols during key times of day and stopping vehicles suspected to be involved in the supply of drugs. We will also enlist the support of Operation Steerside, the Bradford District Antisocial Vehicle Team, as well as dedicated Roads Policing Officers. We will use our powers of stop and search as well as the District-wide Public Space Protection Order.

 

Update August 2023:

  • To target anti-social vehicle use, speeding and inconsiderate parking across the ward area. We will be increasing patrols in the areas and issuing penalty notices to any vehicle parked causing an obstruction and conduct speed checks.  Working in partnership with our wardens to tackle the issues. 
  • To prioritise the violence against women and girls campaign. We will listen to concerns raised by women and girls and create safer spaces in public, private and on-line. 

 

Update: September 2023

  • ASB vehicle use/speeding update – Keighley East is part of NPT led operation, Op Steerside, specifically to target anti-social vehicle use and speeding.  Op Shipdon 2022-2023 issued an additional 560 traffic offence reports or summons to court for the Keighley East/West/Central wards.  Operation Shipdon has just recommenced for 2023-2024.  VAWG – as a Neighbourhood Team we have taken on ownership of DVPO checks/compliance. 
  • We undertake work around StreetSafe locations, to consider areas of concern raised around safety fears, either increasing patrols around this and/or working with partners around other concerns raised e.g. lack of lighting, lack of cctv etc.  We undertook a VAWG week of action earlier in 2023, we have a further VAWG week of action planned for the week 18/09/2023.  This includes school visits and school inputs, StreetSafe patrols, Community Contact Points.

 

Ward Area - Worth - Reviewed 17/02/2024

  • To target anti-social vehicle use, speeding and inconsiderate parking in Stanbury and Oakworth. We will be increasing patrols in the areas and issuing penalty notices to any vehicle parked causing an obstruction, working closely with wardens and parking services.
  • To target and engage with residents of Cross Roads for crime prevention and advice regarding bogus officials. To engage with elderly residents and target ASB in Cross Roads park.

 

Update September 2023  

 

  •  ASB vehicle use/speeding update – partner days of action have been undertaken, including deployments with Steerside Enforcement (Police Off Road     Motorcycles), SpeedWatch and Speed Enforcement work.  Further partnership meeting planned, to further consider prevention methods and wider    problem solving approach.
  •  ASB and street based crime in the Worth Valley – preventative patrols around key ASB hotspots, for instance Haworth and Oakworth.  Combination of high visibility patrols, use of ASB interventions and escalations, partnership support (including youth services) and successful bidding for funding from The Mayors Fund for and on behalf of Youth Services to increase provision and outreach in the Worth Valley.
     

 

Ward Area - Keighley Central - Reviewed 17/02/2024

  • To work closely with partner agencies and community members to address the issues of anti-social behavior and street drinking specifically in the areas of Bow Street, Shopping Centre and Bus Station. Police Operation in place to target and displace these offenders.
  • Deal with on-going reports of street dealing in Highfield and Lawkholme and the surrounding residential streets. Work with the community developing and taking action on reports and intelligence received.

 

Update September 2023:

 

  • ASB and street drinking Bow Street, Shopping Centre and Bus Station – Policing operation in place, particularly focussed on Bus Station following recent spike of ASB and ASB associated crime in the bus station, comprising additional high visibility patrols.  Additional Safer Travel PCSO recruited and in training who will be solely a Safer Travel PCSO, so based at the Bus Station at Keighley and the associated Bus Network for Keighley.  Partnership work including ASB interventions and escalation for those involved and/or Criminal Justice outcomes (including Bail Conditions/Remand where appropriate to Court).  2 people arrested for various offences from the bus station, 1 remanded to court, subsequently bailed from court with strict conditions, further bailed to court with strict conditions and a further being interviewed in relation to an offence.  Partnership work ongoing re Street Drinkers, including work from both a prevention/deterrence/diversion approach and from an enforcement (PSPO Officers) approach.  Problem solving work re location, e.g. phoneboxes ongoing.
  • Deal with on-going reports of street dealing in Highfield and Lawkholme and the surrounding residential streets.  Work ongoing with Friends of Lawkholme to encourage wider community reporting of intelligence to allow wider action.  Policing tactics ongoing in the area, including application for drugs warrant applications via Magistrates Court where intelligence allows.  Wider work being undertaken as part of the Keighley Together Partnership particularly to prevent offending, including school inputs/awareness, community based ownership, community events, partner work to create safer spaces ongoing, e.g. Friends Of groups.  Police work to pursue/arrest continues, specifics can’t be shared of ongoing cases/tactics.
     

 

Ward Area - Ilkley - Reviewed 17/02/2024

  • To work closely with partner agencies and community members to address the issue of anti-social behaviour from youths at the Riverside/Denton Road.
  • To work closely with partner agencies and community members to address speeding and antisocial vehicle use in Ilkley, specifically along the A65 corridor and on Cow Pasture Road.

 

 

Update September 2023:  

 

  •  ASB and Riverside – partnership approach to location, particularly summer based demand peaks.  Deployment of resources from the Police, BDMC PSPO Officers, BDMC Parking Services, BDMC Youth Services.  Combination of engagement and prevention work, including Youth outreach.  ASB interventions, use of CJ outcomes e.g. bail and CBO powers.
  • ASB vehicle use and speeding – ongoing deployment of both Police SpeedWatch  To work closely with partner agencies and community members to address speeding and antisocial vehicle use in Ilkley, specifically along the A65 corridor and on Cow Pasture Road.
