Bradford’s Got Cyber Talent Cyber Winners

Horton Park Primary School are the winners of a “Bradford’s Got Cyber Talent” contest organised by Bradford PCSO (Police Community Support Officers) Cyber Team.

The pupils’ rap, “Follow our rules”, was chosen as the best entry at the contest finals, where pupils from nine Bradford schools performed e-safety songs, poems and raps to a judging panel including the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Doreen Lee, and Sergeant Adam Taylor and Chief Inspector Karen Lindsay from West Yorkshire Police and Reena Uddin from NSPCC.

The track, which was written by Younis and performed by Arman and Abdulrehman will be used from September by the cyber team in their presentations at schools and other educational facilities across the district for the next academic year.

The prize for their efforts was a virtual reality experience day.

PCSO Sam Arif, who helped to organise the competition, said:

“We would like to congratulate this year’s winners, Horton Park Primary, and thank everyone who entered this year’s competition. The standard of entries was very high and the judges found it very hard to choose an outright winner. 

“We would also like to thank the businesses who supported us by donating some fantastic prizes.

“While this was a fun competition there is a serious side to it in that staying safe online is very important for anyone who uses the internet, and we urge parents and carers to take an interest in their child’s online activity.”

Horton Park Primary headteacher Salma Rehman, said:

“Bradford's Got Cyber Talent has been an amazing platform for our children to showcase their creative talents and highlight the importance of e-safety.

“The children have worked exceptionally well to produce and perform the rap. This involved them working collaboratively and overcoming new challenges with great patience and dedication.  

“We are delighted to be recognised as winners of this fantastic award and look forward to the winning act being cascaded and celebrated with the children of Bradford.  On behalf of the school, I would like to congratulate the children on this fabulous achievement and I would also like to thank the staff and parents for their continued support on this project!”

Apart from Sam, Bradford’s talented PCSO Cyber Team consists of Jo Cato, Sami Potrick, Luke Carson, Danny Mynott and Geoff Woodrow.
