Local Community Engagement

We engage with local communities in a number of ways. We have Independent Advisory Groups (IAGs) and Scrutiny Panels made up of members of the public who consult with us on policies policies and practices, and who review police interactions and cases.

Independent Advisory Group (IAG)

We work with an Independent Advisory Group (IAG), made up from members of the public who reside in our diverse communities and act as a "critical friend". The IAG forum provides an opportunity to engage, consult and discuss the impact of policing on the communities of West Yorkshire.

There is a Force IAG, and several District IAGs which are held in different areas across West Yorkshire.

If you are interested in becoming a member of an IAG, please contact us via Email: [email protected]

Scrutiny Panels

West Yorkshire Police works with Scrutiny Panels in each Policing District, made up of members of the public who reside in our diverse communities and give constructive feedback on how our services can be continually improved. For more information, please contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.

Key Individual Network (KIN)

A Key Individual Network or 'KIN' is a network of people that are able to represent identified groups or communities, either through group or self-nomination. Membership is a volunteer commitment and individuals must have an interest in the safety and wellbeing of the group or community that they represent.
